ART ENDEAVOURS – Caricature

The months of May and June can be busiest of the year in terms of art endeavours, at least in my case. My Children’s After-school Art Classes typically finish in May or early June before the school summer holidays. It’s a wonderful time to showcase the children’s artwork created though the year, so I organise an art exhibition in each of the venues where I teach – Glounthaune NS, My Place Hall in Midleton and Glanmire Pike Hall. The first of these exhibitions will be in Midleton, to coincide with the Midleton 2025 art festival. Artwork by the children from my Tuesday afternoon classes will be on display on the main window of My Place Hall, Mill Road, for the duration of the festival from May 7th to 11th

Various art events will take place over the course of the festival, including an art market in the Farmers Market area beside Supervalu on Sunday May 11th from 11.00am-4.00pm, where artists sell their work. This year I plan to take part and do live caricature during the artist’s Sunday market. Live caricature is something I’ve done from time to time.  It’s great fun chatting to the client and trying to quickly capture the essence of the person in black and white. Here are some photos I did for an office work event some years ago.

It promises to be a busy time and I’m especially looking forward to organising my student’s after-school art exhibitions in Glounthaune NS, Midleton and Glanmire.
